Carolus Clusius or Charles de l'Écluse (1526-1609) was a Flemish doctor and the most influential botanists of his time. "Fungorum in Pannoniis observatorum brevis historia", (p cclxi-ccxcv) is the first monograph on fungi and the first mycological flora. A good copy, title slightly browned, only few spotting. The portrait is not present, as in most copies. Bound in old leather, spine richly gilt, rubbed, upper hinges cracking. 34,5 x 21,5 cm

Mordechai Cubitt Cooke (1825 - 1914) was a self-taught naturalist and became the leading British mycologist after J. Berkeley. His "Illustrations" remained for half a century the mycological work with the highest number of plates - surpassed then by Bresadola's Iconographia mycologica (1927-1933). The illustrations with coloured background were taken from nature by Cooke himself or copied from drawings by Berkeley, Broome, W. G. Smith or Massee. Bound in green half-leather. 23 cm
