Volbracht 2041; Stafleu 12.834; Uellner 1725. - A rare and important taxonomical work, creating new genera like Collybia or Crepidotus. Friedrich Staude was a physician and botanist at Coburg. This is the first issue of his book, distributed in 1857 as a present for the participants of a congress of agriculturists and foresters. In 1858, the work was reissued as a first instalment (Erste Lieferung) of a larger work, which was not continued. Staude died in 1861. A very nice copy with a stamp of Lehrbücherei Rostock on back of title. Bound in original decorated hard cover, small old label on cover; 32 cm

Waer by gehvoeght is een cort Tractaet vande hinderlijcke Cruyden van dit landt, als wilde Petercelie, ende andere, met de teghen middelen teghen soodanigh vergif. Further, the Theatrum fungorum is the first book with copper-plate illustrations of larger fungi. Sterbeeck (1630-1693) was a Flemish priest and botanist. The beautiful figures are partly taken from earlier illustrated herbals. The most are drawn after the famous Clusius Codex, which came in Sterbeeck's possession in 1772.
Very good copy, only slightly browned. With the very nice frontispiece showing a fungi-market in Antwerpen and the portrait of the author. A second portrait of Joanne van Buytenis is inserted as a reproduction on old paper, from another copy. Old pig skin binding. 20,2 x 15,7 cm

The set has been bound in the order of the 36 Hefte in 4 volumes in modern hard-cover with gilt leather-label on spine. The original covers of the hefte with the nindexes have been bound in. Each volume is inserted in a small folding box with gilt label. All the very nice plates (Pritzel: "Icones nitidissimae") in beautiful contemporary colouring and very nice condition.13,2 x 9 cm

Louis-René Tulasne (1815-1885) studied law. He worked as a public notary for a few years and then became a private scientist at Paris, dedicating himself to botany and the Christian religion. His brother Charles Tulasne (1815-1884) was a physician in Paris. The brothers are most famous for their fundamental study on truffles (Fungi hypogaei, 1851) and this extraordinary work with the finely drawn and engraved plates by Charles Tulasne. A good copy, with slight browning or spotting to text and plates (a bit stronger in voi 1). A small tear to title to vol 1 repaired, a few corners of plates or text-pages with knits in corners. Bound in contemporary half-leather with gilt spines. 35 cm
